To the editor:

Congratulations to the Southeast Missourian for its grand centennial celebration. It was a glorious day.

We wish to thank the Missourian for including the Cape River Heritage Museum. Being off the beaten track, the attendance was far less than other activities. Those who found us were delighted with the activities we had available.

Kudos to the students of the Southeast Missouri State University Historic Preservation Association who bore the outdoor heat to man the games, did face painting indoors and helped with the scavenger hunt.

The star for the momentous day was Ruthie Mae, a precious mule provided by Dave and Maxine Hale of 5H Ranch. The mule remained calm and attentive all day and appeared to enjoy the photo ops and an apple or two. She did not have to bob for them like the young folks.

I wish to thank the Hales, and a special thanks to our board members for their assistance.

Come see the wonderful Missourian timeline and historical artifacts. This exhibit will be available until mid-December along with our current sports exhibit.
