Regional science fair will feature projects from area students

Today the Show Me Center is the location for a grand display of hard work and innovation.

The Southeast Missouri Regional Science Fair, now in its 58th year, will feature 319 projects. With 27 area schools and 441 students contributing, the annual event should feature some interesting ideas and reflect much hard work and study.

Among the projects, 278 were entered in the Junior Division and 41 for the Senior Division, according to a news release from Southeast Missouri State University. Public viewing will begin at 3:30 p.m. and awards will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Science fairs are important events that give students something to work toward. Classroom education is key, but using this knowledge in a practical way, and providing a bit of competition, can help drive student success.

It's no secret, these disciplines play a vital role for many careers, including medicine and engineering.
