To the editor:
I am tired of seeing Morley Swingle mug for the cameras and rub elbows with Hollywood liberals. Last time I checked he was a prosecuting attorney. Now he is an author and TV star. When he isn't busy concocting wild stories to try and make petty crimes look like high-profile cases, he's on TV and in the paper trying to sell books and promote himself.
Cape Girardeau County doesn't need a prosecutor who refers to himself in the third person. We need someone who seeks justice. Unfortunately, Swingle is a prime example that winning cases and self-promotion have become more important than seeking the truth in our justice system.
I have sat back and watched local police officers and respected community members receive special treatment and have their crimes hidden from the public while police officers and prosecutors like Swingle crucify others caught for the same crime. I don't want to be treated better or different. I just want everyone to be treated fairly.
I am tired of seeing quotes from Swingle about fighting injustice when he is part of the problem. We don't want to read his book or see his Court TV special or listen to his politically correct statements about what he believes.
