I am writing about Proposition A, the "Let Voters Decide" initiative that is on the Nov. 2 ballot. As a working person, I support this initiative. I feel very strongly that it is important to protect the rights of the voters and taxpayers, and that is what Prop A does. Jackson does not have an earnings tax, but current state laws would allow politicians to impose one. I already pay federal and state taxes. I cannot afford to pay more taxes...

I am writing about Proposition A, the "Let Voters Decide" initiative that is on the Nov. 2 ballot. As a working person, I support this initiative. I feel very strongly that it is important to protect the rights of the voters and taxpayers, and that is what Prop A does. Jackson does not have an earnings tax, but current state laws would allow politicians to impose one. I already pay federal and state taxes. I cannot afford to pay more taxes.

Voting yes on A would protect me and folks like me from having to pay these taxes. But, it would also give my fellow Missourians that live in Kansas City and St. Louis the right to vote to continue this practice or do away with it. Should the voters have a say in whether or not we pay a local earnings tax? Yes. And a yes vote on Proposition A could give them that chance.

Vote yes on A on Nov. 2. It's the right thing to do.
