It was not a simple process, spanning more than two years and involving an on-site review that came just days after the police department began investigating what turned out to be a multiple shooting-suicide by Mir Shahin Moshiri that left two children dead and another child and his wife seriously injured. Rather than put off the accreditation visit, the department impressed reviewers by going ahead under stressful circumstances.

Congratulations to the Jackson Police Department, both for achieving this national distinction and for continuing to maintain high professional standards.
