We all mourn the horrible tragedy that happened recently in Newton, Conn.
Why does such a thing happen? What does a person think about human life when they commit such an act? Did this happen only because weapons were readily available? Could, maybe, the violence and disregard for all life that we find in our country, especially in our entertainment industry -- video games, television, movies, etc. -- bear some of the blame?
We tend to blame others when bad things happen. Maybe we are all to blame because we are becoming a country where we are "free" to do almost anything, good or bad. We are becoming a country with a "culture of death."
Since abortion has become "legal," millions of babies have been killed before they were born. They did not even live to be old enough to go to school. Where are the mourners?
I think there is enough blame to go around. I believe that we all know what is right and what is wrong, but we sometimes put our self-interest first.
Let us pray that we do the will of God.
Sincerely,
ROBERT MODDE, Perryville, Mo.
