To the editor:
I want to compliment the Cape Girardeau Police Department for monitoring the former Regina's House of Dolls on Enterprise Drive.
The city council was forced to allow the strip joint to open in spite of citizens' complaints in January 1995. Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle could only offer state regulations against nudity. But the women would have G-strings on.
Thanks to many wonderful people and God, a city ordinance was passed regulating the adult-entertainment business. The police have been a true blessing to families for checking this establishment and keeping it clean.
Just think who would be the ones harmed without the ordinance and the police to keep such places in check. It would be the wives, girlfriends, daughters and any female who these men decided to use for their immediate pleasure. If the other person resisted, do you think there might be violence?
Let's be thankful the system is working and pray for the girls who got caught that they will be able to find work that builds their self-esteem.
