The Southeast Missourian recently reported that the Oliver House -- named after a prominent local lawyer, county prosecuting attorney and state senator -- is open for tours. According to one organizer behind the facility, the house has undergone several improvements.

The support for the Federal-style home has been more than monetary. Boy Scouts have played an important role in the labor provided, and the efforts have helped some with Eagle Scout projects.

Pat Fosse, board member and past president of the Jackson Heritage Association, said the house is now open for Sunday tours, and what a great time of year to enjoy this community gem. Whether you've lived in the area for decades or are a recent transplant, this house is worth a look.

We offer our thanks to all those who help to preserve this piece of Jackson history. From the financial donors and volunteers, to the Boy Scouts who played a key role in the renovations -- you're work does not go unnoticed.
