Leaders of Old Town Cape recently returned home with some new hardware that recognizes the organization's efforts.
The downtown organization was recognized at the 2015 Missouri Main Street Conference in Kansas City. The awards included the following: Adaptive Reuse award on behalf of Janus Development Group; Business Excellence award for Thomas R. Higgins of TRH Accounting; Stick Out Your Neck award for James D. Maurer; and Great American Main Street cup for being recognized with the Great American Main Street Award, a national award presented to the organization earlier this year.
Old Town Cape plays an important role in downtown Cape Girardeau. It recently took on additional duties as the coordinator for the Downtown Cape Girardeau Community Improvement District. The organization was hired by The Cid board of directors to administer tasks, which include enhancing safety, beautification and other downtown needs. Old Town Cape's district goes beyond the downtown CID, but there is synergy between the two because many of the needs of The Cid also benefit Old Town Cape and the businesses that operate in the area.
Congratulations to Old Town Cape, its board and executive director Marla Mills on the recent awards and recognition.
