The National Rifle Association has filed a lawsuit to reverse parts of this law because it will prohibit them from running TV ads against a politician who is anti-gun before primary and general elections. I intend to help the NRA financially.

However, since I am on a fixed income, I have limited funds to contribute. I have developed a form letter to send to all seeking contributions from me. It tells them of my intention to send my contributions to the NRA.

Guess who will receive the first copy? John McCain. I just received a letter begging for money from the primary sponsor of this insidious law. McCain knows the average voter does not have enough funds to run ads against him and his ilk and must rely on associations to pool these funds. Yet he wants to deny me the right (through the associations I may contribute to) to voice my displeasure with a candidate's or incumbent's position on an issue.

I still have a constitutional right to vote out of office all those who would deny me the freedom to speak out against them. And I still have a constitutional right to spend my money as I please -- at least for now. How long before McCain and the Democratic and Republican liberals try to close this loophole?
