Please, please, please vote "no" on Amendment 7 and Proposition K on Tuesday, because your wallet depends on it.
Amendment 7 is asking us for the largest tax increase in Missouri's history! This tax increase would be for the next 10 years (or more). MoDOT is asking for this sales tax increase for "Roads and Bridges," but the sales tax collected by this is asking for almost five times the amount of money required for their budget. In addition, MoDOT would have a 5 percent county slush fund, and a 5 percent city slush fund. And this amendment will not protect us against a national gas tax increase (which the president has been campaigning about). Amendment 7 does nothing to curb the MoDOT spending.
Proposition K is asking us for another program with an "unelected board" distributing your money with no accountability. Currently there are 20-plus pages of programs for children's services. Isn't that enough? Not to mention this will likely connect your hard-earned money to federal government money with strings attached. This means that government will be deciding how you will donate your money.
Please, please, please vote "no" on Amendment 7 and Proposition K.
All of our wallets depend on it.
