Never dreamed New York would become war zone

To the editor:

Thanks for the U.S. flag, and for the list of how to help in Wednesday's edition of the Southeast Missourian. My flag is up, and money being sent.

My daughter is in Manhattan going to college, and lives close to the World Trade Center. She was on her way to class when she saw one of the explosions. Papers rained down on her bus. When we sent her to college, we never dreamed we were sending her to a war zone.
