Neighbors want center to move

To the editor:We are a small group of neighbors, homeowners, taxpayers and voters of Jackson. We want our neighborhood safe and free of the fear of danger and crime. The streets, homes and yards are mostly well-kept by their owners. We want our property to keep its market value. We need the peace of mind knowing that our property and vehicles will not be violated or stolen. The Revival Center needs to be moved away from any residential area. It needs to be placed in a location that won't object to having the problems it brings.

The police calls there are too numerous to mention. Once there were police cars, ambulances and firetrucks there at the same time due to a fire caused by someone cooking dope. A neighborhood vehicle was stolen and demolished by someone from this facility. He was sent to prison for theft. Just the other day it was reported in the Southeast Missourian that an unregistered sex offender was arrested there. These are just a few of the infractions that have occurred.

We worked hard for years, raised our families, became grandparents and have been good citizens of this community. We chose this neighborhood to be our safe haven. We love it here. Unfortunately, having a halfway house here has changed the character of this area. We support moving the Revival Center from our neighborhood.
