To the editor:
When I was growing up, my grandpa used to tell me, "Moving forward doesn't always mean moving up." I never gave this saying much thought until now. When I see four liberal judges in California who, in the name of progress, undermine the will of the people and the state by redefining the institution of marriage, I can clearly see what my grandpa was talking about.
When I watch as the highest court of the land, which is responsible for preserving the integrity of our Constitution, degrade our sovereignty by giving our enemies lawyers and access to civilian courts during a time of war, I can clearly see what my grandpa was talking about.
When I see a pregnant transvestite praised for his/her boldness and courage on Oprah Winfrey's show, I can clearly see what my grandpa was talking about.
When I watch as liberals and environmentalists put the assumed needs of a caribou above the energy security our nation, I can see what my grandpa was talking about.
All I'm saying is this: When liberals talk about progress and moving forward, that doesn't necessarily mean the same thing as moving up. Quite frankly it means the opposite. It means dragging our country down the crapper. If this is what liberals believe to be progress, then I can only pray that I be left behind.
