Memories of shopping for mom

To the editor:

A tradition in my family is shopping for our mom on Christmas Eve.

This picture (above), taken 20 years ago (and published in the Bulletin-Journal, which later merged with the Southeast Missourian), represents our annual routine on Christmas Eve: shopping in downtown Cape Girardeau, enjoying a wonderful lunch and sharing another year of memories with our dad.

Even now, as the looks and businesses of downtown Cape have changed and my sisters have started their own families, you will see us there year after year.

Thank you for leaving this memory with my family to share with the generations to come.
