Marybeth Williams of Jackson was one of those individuals whose personality, attitude and charm suited her well to be an ambassador for her hometown, a role she relished as executive director of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce the past three years. Williams died Sunday after a brief battle with pneumonia.
Tonight, the many friends and relatives of Williams will celebrate her amazingly full life at a special celebration at the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, the church that nurtured the spiritual Marybeth Williams all of her life. The service begins at 7 p.m., preceded by visitation at the church beginning at 6 p.m.
The Jackson High School graduate, who furthered her studies with a bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University and a master's from California State University-Sacramento, had an extensive career in business before taking the chamber's helm. Among Marybeth's passions were the pageants she helped organize both at the local and state levels. Jackson's Homecomers, the annual reunion of Jackson's current and former residents, was a particular interest.
In her short life, Williams was awarded accolades that recognized her many professional accomplishments. Tonight, those who loved her most will also remember her inner beauty and the vibrant personality that endeared her to so many.
