Many artists are being ignored

To the editor:I would like to thank Matt Sanders and the Southeast Missourian for the outstanding April 6 article on Herb Wickham.

However, the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri works hard to get outstanding regional and national artists to show in our galleries, and the Southeast Missourian and Sanders continually ignore these artists.

The artist that is showing in the adjacent gallery to Herb Wickham was mentioned only in one sentence in the whole article. She has an almost parallel career to Herb, and a good article comparing their art and careers would have been nice.

This is not the first time Sanders has done this. In the past I have tried to get Sanders to do articles on our visiting artist, and he continually ignores them. This is a real put-down for the arts council and everyone who helps get these artists into our galleries.

I am disappointed in the Missourian for not reporting all the newsworthy art happenings in Cape Girardeau.
