Lorimier book

Linda Clark Nash had a fascination with Pierre de Lorimier from an early age. As a sixth-grade student, she attended Lorimier school in Cape Girardeau -- now city hall. Later she studied about Cape Girardeau's founder in college and has researched the man since.

This month, the years of research and interest come to fruition with the release of her first book, "The Journals of Pierre Louis de Lorimier." A book signing will be held from 10 a.m. to noon tomorrow and Sept. 29 at the Red House Interpretive Center in Cape Girardeau where the book will be available for purchase. Bookstores will carry it beginning Oct. 1. A compilation of Lorimier's journals edited by Nash, the book includes the original French words and English translation.

This month's TBY publication noted the extensive research Nash has done for the project. From her travels to St. Louis, New Orleans and Alexandria, La. to her long-distance research by email and phone to locations in the U.S. and abroad, Nash has put a great deal of work into this project.
