We have much to pray about. There are global issues like terrorism, economics and poverty.
Earlier this week part of the U.S. was ravaged by severe weather and tornadoes. As of Wednesday morning, at least 35 people had died as a result of the storms. Thousands are without power.
There are other issues also deserving of prayer. While there is sadness many endure for a time, we are blessed by many good things from God. James 1:17 says: "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
Today is the National Day of Prayer. It's the 63rd annual occasion, which was established through a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress and signed by President Harry S. Truman.
Two events will be held in Cape Girardeau today for the local Christian community to pray for our nation and world.
Cape First Church will host a service at 6:30 a.m. St. Andrew Lutheran Church will host the evening gathering at 6:30 p.m.
Our nation and its leaders need prayer. We hope you consider attending one of these services or spend your own time in prayer with God.
