Last Saturday morning I stopped at a gas station in Jackson. As I walked up to pay, I got drenched in gasoline, covering the whole left side of my face and body and even in my left eye. Dripping in gasoline, I asked the clerk for something to wipe the gas from my face and eye. She was kind enough to give me a paper towel. The only concern of the man who sprayed me was to tell the clerk that his gas pump malfunctioned.

I told the clerk I was going to drive myself to the hospital. She offered to call an ambulance but really didn't seem very concerned. The clerk got her boss on the phone and handed the phone to me. I told her boss that I needed to go to the hospital. He told me OK but said his clerk couldn't leave.

When the man who sprayed me came up to pay, he still didn't apologize. I paid for my gas, gave the clerk my name and drove myself to the hospital with one eye and dripping in gasoline.

I'm very disappointed in people, especially the man who sprayed gasoline on me. I will pay my own hospital bill and continue on with life as though this incident did not happen. Hopefully, I will never be careless enough to do what that man did, but if I do, I will definitely apologize and be there to help the person in any way possible.
