The March 23 edition of the Southeast Missourian had a lot of mistakes about the arrest of my husband, Stephen Stewart. He did not hold me hostage at knifepoint or shoot out my tires.

He was not intoxicated. I don't know how they can get this information so messed up. I just wanted to be left alone, I didn't want them to bring the SWAT team and shoot him down. He is not some kind of murderer. I really believe the law went overboard when this incident happened, especially with the newspaper. Also when the airplanes and SWAT team and FBI and everyone else was called.

I really believe the picture in the paper was uncalled for. They made him take his hair down and put it all around so he would look bad.

This wasn't even close to a one-man war. I don't know if the officers were out to kill him, imprison him, insult him or what. Were they trying to impress the people with their big story on the front page of the paper?
