To the editor:
When love is my response to anger,
When kindness is my reward for hate,
When mercy is my antidote for justice,
When patience means far more than wait,
When God's word is heard when I speak,
When I give all my strength unto the weak,
When I'm on my knees more than my feet,
When I see God in those I meet,
When my flesh becomes my slave,
When I fee peace unto the grave,
When the friends who I bring home
Are poor and all alone,
When I deny my selfish pride
To save hurt feelings they can't hide,
When I am true to his word employ,
When all of life is full of joy,
Then I will be
God's precious fruit.
