To the editor:

Because of the volunteering spirit, Classroom Scouting Adventure Day on May 10 for special-needs students was a huge success.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the many volunteers and the Cape County Park South employees for making possible the many Scouting activity areas for the 250 Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and their teachers from Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.

The planning committee worked hard to make our second annual outing so worthwhile: Jerry Ford, Gerald Jones, Marvin Proffer, Judy Zakibe, Jeanne Long, Jean Farrar, Karen Redfearn, Sara Scheper, Bob Francis, Terrence Kelley, Norm Robert and Cathie Lundry.

The following contributed to the event: Charles Pruitt with Little Debbie Cakes, Joe Blackwell's sound system, Wal-Mart, Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau, National Guard, Cape County Disaster Agency, Shriners Club and Clowns, Kelley Trucking and Transportation, Southeast Missourian, Cash-Book Journal, Albertson's Foods, Cape Girardeau County Public Health Department and Girl Scouts.
