LETTERS: TRUST IN GOD FOR DIVINE HEALTH AND EVERY NEED

To the editor:

I must respond to the letters of March 13 and 14 on divine healing. I am reminded of the words of Jesus: "You must have faith as of little children."

I do not serve a God who does not show compassion. I serve a living, powerful God who has provided my every need. He created me in his image -- body, soul and spirit. The Greek word which is translated "salvation" is complex. It is best translated "wholeness for the whole man." It is a shame our English language is not as expressive as the Greek.

But I digress. Jesus Christ shed his blood for the forgiveness of our sins. By his stripes we were healed. I trust God for divine health. Jesus was moved with compassion when he met the funeral procession bearing the only son of a widow and raised him from the dead. When the leper questioned his willingness to heal (Matthew 8), Jesus said, "I am willing, be cleansed." He is a God who never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

The problem is not that God cannot or will not heal us. It is that we are not willing to seek him with the diligence that he desires. We find it easier to trust in man, in money, in knowledge and in doctors than to truly trust in God. I will make use of doctors, but my faith is in a healing God.
