To the editor:
As chairman of the 1996 Salvation Army Tree of Lights campaign, I would like to thank all those persons in the city of Cape Girardeau and all other persons who contributed to the Salvation Army for its Tree of Lights campaign.
I am pleased to announce the Tree of Lights campaign raised $160,313, which was $313 above its goal. The Salvation Army assisted 1,050 families with food and toys. In addition, the Salvation Army provided hundreds of coats and clothing to individuals through the Coats for Kids program.
This successful campaign could not be accomplished without the generous support and help of Cape Girardeau and the surrounding community. On behalf of the Salvation Army and its 1996 Tree of Lights campaign, and all those people who were benefactors of the generosity of the community, thank you.
AL SPRADLING III, Mayor
Cape Girardeau
