To the editor:

I am writing to thank you for the coverage you have provided the Renaissance Program at Cape Girardeau Central High School. Our most recent event was an academic pep rally that was held last week. You provided us a front-page article with photo, and you again mentioned us in your Saturday editorial. Through this pep rally we were able to recognize over 30 percent of the student body.

The mission of the Central High School Renaissance Program is to acknowledge the educational achievements and outstanding contributions of students and staff members. This is a program that has the potential to affect every student in a very positive manner. Julia Jorgensen along with other faculty members, students and parents work together with the many corporate and individual sponsors of our community to keep the Renaissance Program active in the high school.
