LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: TRUTH CAN LEAD OUR NATION OUT OF DELUSIONS

To the editor:

Instead of idealizing or romanticizing about life, Sam came to a point.

In his life he was given a vision. However short, it was still a vision. Life could be more. You might say the Detour Angel visited Sam, and through that intervention of reality, truth trumped his delusion.

Like our downtown, we are a nation in transition, and we have been for 50 years. Our only question is which way will we go?

Some people want to continue the immoral decline, and some people want to stop the decline and rebuild a showplace society.

George Bailey had a vision but, like our nation, lost it. He based his disillusionment on the evil Mr. Potter and all the seemingly uncaring neighbors. Today we base our disillusionment on the cultural evil seemingly everywhere and the apathetic society we have become.

But there are many who have been visited by the Truth Angel and are not willing to abide.

Like Sam, they have had their delusions burst into reality and are calling for our government, law enforcement and leaders to curb the nation's vices.

There are many lessons we can learn from those who chose to deny truth and follow delusions. And I believe it's time we begin to learn from them.

Instead of following the foolishness of the last half-century and looking for happiness in all the wrong places, isn't it time to learn it's a wonderful life when we follow the truth of the Creator?
