LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: SPECIAL EDUCATOR GIVES THANKS BACK TO COMMUNITY

Dear Editor,

I was honored recently by the Chamber of Commerce as the Special Educator for 1994. This seems a perfect time to say thank you to the citizens of Cape Girardeau.

Thank you Kim McDowell for your leadership and Mike Kohfeld for the beautiful tribute.

Thanks to

* parents for trusting teachers to teach

* children willing to learn

* friends, and colleagues for your encouragement

* family for your help and confidence

* administrators, the schoolboard and all educators

* a supportive community

* the Chamber of Commerce

All of you help make teachers excellent.

I am retiring from teaching in the Cape Girardeau Public Schools this year but I pray I will never retire form learning or teaching.

I am personally proud to be numbered among the members of a profession of such importance to our community, state and nation. It is with pride that I share this honor with the total community.
