LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: METROLINK SHOULD PAY FOR ITSELF OR IT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN

Dear Editor:

Newspaper reports state that hearings are to be held concerning statewide funding of operational cost of the Metro Link in the St. Louis area. This system was built and the equipment furnished by federal taxpayers, at no dollar cost to the local areas.

I am strongly opposed to that type of funding. If the areas using this system cannot generate enough funds to operate it through fares and/or local taxes, then park the darn thing and let it rust.
