Dear Editor,

It seems to me that we are trying to do just the opposite from what the Bible tells us to do, when it says "Love thy neighbor."

Dissension is prevailing more and more. It used to be a pleasure -- and relaxing -- to pick up the daily paper and read the news. It appears that opposition and resentment faces us in much of what we read.

How much better it would be for all of us if we showed a little respect instead of hatred. If we had a little compassion instead of resentment. If we tried to understand and accept instead of always opposing.

Thank you for permitting me to express my feelings. I prefer the Southeast Missourian newspaper over all other publications.
