This letter is in response to Jim Drury's full-page ad in last Sunday's Missourian.

Some people hold grudges for a very long time. Mr. Drury seems to be one of those people. Ever since the city and the university decided to locate the Show Me Center on campus, Mr. Drury has been mad. If the Show Me Center and River Campus were located on Cape's west side, we would never have heard a peep out of Mr. Drury.

I believe Mr. Drury is simply motivated by his own personal greed and a vendetta for the city and university leaders. This may not concern people on the sprawling west and north sides of Cape, but for those of us still living downtown and in the midtown area, this is scary. If Mr. Drury has his way, downtown Cape will become the next Cairo, Ill.

Maybe Mr. Drury should sit down with his financial people and go over how much revenue he earns from his hotels and restaurants from folks who are here in association with the university or one of its events.

This is just a reality check from a middle-class Cape voter and a Southeast Missouri State University alum.
