LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: GALA THANKS

Dear Editor,

It has been our pleasure to work with the Cape Girardeau County and surrounding businesses while organizing the 1994 American Cancer Society Gala. Much like this year's Gala theme, "Discover the Secret Garden," we discovered the generosity rooted in our community.

We would like to thank the Southeast Missourian and Tipoff magazine for giving this event excellent coverage. The articles and photos made this fundraiser more dynamic and exciting.

Likewise, the corporate and individual sponsors' philanthropic participation was greatly appreciated. The local businesses were generous with their donations of merchandise for the Gala's auction. We could not have asked for a more cooperative community.

All of the volunteers from the area devoted much of their time, green thumbs and elbow grease. The talented, organized and efficient committee heads made the evening wonderful.

This year's spectacular floral theme made for a welcome evening of warmth, beauty and color, along with great entertainment and support of a worthy cause.

We thank everyone for becoming involved with the 1994 "Discover the Secret Garden" Gala. Your contributions have helped the American Cancer Society become one step closer to discovering a cure for cancer.
