To the editor:
What one word would describe the excellent performance presented by the Symphonic Wind Ensemble conducted by Robert M. Gifford last week at Academic Auditorium? The answer is serendipity. I was expecting an evening of wonderful music performed by students with exceptional musical ability under the direction of a professional conductor. I received all that I was expecting and much more.
During the final composition, "The Stars and Stripes Forever," the audience was invited to participate with the wind ensemble by clapping hands with the cadence of this most loved march.
Serendipity: finding something better than what you were looking for.
