To the editor:
I am distressed to see the news media consistently ignoring the Korean War. A year or so ago, I called KFVS-12 when it mentioned every war except the Korean War. The other day, a veteran contacted me and told me the advertising for the air show mentioned every war except the Korean War.
The sad part of this neglect is that there were 5.7 million service members worldwide who participated in the Korean War, and there were 33,686 battle deaths. I do not understand how this country's news media can constantly ignore all of these veterans, but that is what I see all the time, but in the local and the national media.
These men were Americans, and it was a cold, dirty, ugly war, especially after the Chinese began to fight with the North Koreans. I have heard horror stories from friends who were there that more than equal horror stories from World War II or Vietnam.
I would like to suggest that when people write to Speak Out to voice their opinions, they remember that they have that luxury because of all of our veterans, including those who fought in Korea.
