A recent article in the Southeast Missourian regarding the River Campus reported the potential merging of the Cape River Heritage Museum with the Southeast Missouri State University Museum. Some readers may have been left with the false impression that the merger has been completed. We would like to stress that the merger is only in the planning stages at this time.

While we hope to reach a workable agreement between the university and the Cape River Heritage Museum board, there are still several issues to be resolved. Considering that work has yet to begin on the River Campus, its completion is still some time away.

In the meantime, the Cape River Heritage Museum will continue to operate as a separate entity. We encourage citizens of Southeast Missouri to visit the museum, and we ask for their continued support.
