Here is a short multiple choice test for those planning on going to the polls Nov. 8.

Why does it take Mel Hancock's Amendment 7 3,000 words to say, "Any and all changes in state individual income tax rates, state corporate income tax rates, state sales tax rates, and state local-use tax rates shall be approved by a majority of the registered voters in Missouri?"

A. Because Mel Hancock wishes to confuse the citizens of Missouri. B. Because Mel Hancock wishes to cut state services (e.g., road construction, education, public safety, job training) by $1 billion, C. Because Mel Hancock wishes to stop economic progress in the state. E. All of the above.

Amendment 7 is flawed in its words and impact. It should be rejected with a no vote on Nov. 8. Those proposing a statewide vote on tax increases should introduce a straightforward statement for our consideration.
