To the editor:
I am so thankful for the letter to the editor from Dr. John R. Schoenberger. Thank you, Doctor, for speaking out on abortion. If other local doctors would also take their turn on pro-life, I'm sure this terrible crime could be stopped.
As I read the paper about Gov. Mel Carnahan signing the Branson tax bill so the residents of Branson would have an opportunity to vote on a tourism tax -- and that he did this without fanfare and with expediency so the deadline could be met by the city council -- and the article about the historic courthouse in Charleston being torn down and the local residents watching as a part of their history was disappearing, I thought of how mixed up our minds are.
If our governor and other politicians would be as anxious to perpetuate and save lives as they are to sign bills pertaining to taxes and money, and if we were to witness a child being killed and destroyed by so-called medical practitioners instead of witnessing buildings being destroyed, how different life would be.
I love life and most of all my family, and I thank God for everything he allows me to have and enjoy.
Our nation is paying in morality for this terrible crime of abortion, and until we say it must stop, a few people will dictate to us what is legal, but not what is right.
If you have never voiced your opinion concerning pro-life to your governor, senator or representative, I challenge you to do it today. Make it a priority today that you are going to make a personal commitment to do so now. I assure you that whenever enough of us say stop, it will stop, and America will be blessed again.
