To the editor:

In the chilling wind on Saturday, my family and I stood in line and waited with many, many others to catch a glimpse of history inside the Marquette Hotel. Cameras flashed, music played and the majestic lobby filled with citizens, both young and old, from all walks of life. Enthusiasm spread, and it became a reunion of sorts. Strangers spoke, old friends gathered and most wished to see more of this fine structure. I hope someone will step forward and preserve this landmark for generations to come. And we can feel the anticipation we felt on the sidewalk on Saturday each time we approach her doors.
