Every Saturday morning at 6 a.m. I never fail to turn on my television to watch "Perspective," a favorite program of mine. I am sure there are others who feel the same.

On April 25, I was surprised and pleased to see Trinity Lutheran Church and school represented.

Since I have been a member of Trinity for 90 years, I have many fond memories of the old church, which naturally I feel a closeness to, as well as the first Trinity Lutheran School what was built on the present grounds of the church. My twin sister and I attended that first Lutheran school.

Although it was a small, two-story, brick building with wooden steps leading to the upstairs, and with the old-fashioned double bench for the few students, it seemed like a mansion to me. There was a much more and deeper religious warmth than today, the kind that stays with you.

Our only activity was the Walther League, to which we belonged. The building was certainly a fire hazard, but somehow we were protected.

Our playground was simple but so appreciated. Our only toilets were outdoors in the back part of the church grounds. Our old-fashioned water pump was outside. However, we were satisfied.

I missed the mention of our former Lutheran school here that was so much a part of our first Lutheran church.

Wouldn't it have been nice, as well as appropriate, to give mention to it also?
