Our economic common sense tells us George W. Bush cannot keep his campaign promises to increase spending for Medicare, Social Security, the military, education, prescription drugs, the Star Wars defense program, tax cuts, balancing the budget and paying down the national debt. He must be having sessions with Nancy Reagan's fortune teller.

Bush is the luckiest man to ever walk into the White House. He wasn't elected by the majority. They don't want his Cabinet nor his administration, and they don't want him, period. His father handed Bill Clinton an empty plate with mortgages hanging all over it. Clinton handed George W. Bush a full plate with surpluses hanging all over it. How lucky can one get?

The reason for Clinton's unprecedented economy was the fact that the little people had faith in him, and that helped the big people too. When it looked like Bush would win the Republican nomination and the presidency, that faith among working people began to waver. They don't trust him.

If the Republicans blow Clinton's success, let's hope another Roosevelt or Clinton comes along to bail us out again.
