Gov. Bob Holden wants to build the roads we were promised years ago. He wants to give us the accountability in the Missouri Department of Transportation that state Rep. Catherine Hanaway of St. Louis and others keep talking about.

Let's move on, as the governor has suggested. House Bill 924, sponsored by state Rep. Gary Wiggins of New Cambria, Mo., is a good start for the Senate to debate the issue.

We all need transportation for the necessities of life to reach us, whether we drive or not. Let's not let partisan politics keep us from taking advantage of the opportunity to move Missouri forward.
