To the editor:
In his response to my last letter, Alan Journet failed again to answer my question as to whether warming and cooling cycles that occurred in the past were natural or manmade. He dodges it because he knows the answer is natural, and if there are climatic changes occurring now it is a naturally occurring event. And if we are warming up, why does it have to be a bad thing? It might be beneficial to mankind.
I agree with his statement that most people are ill-informed on this subject. Who can blame them with all of these university elitists spewing this garbage these days.
If anyone wants to be informed of the real facts on this issue, they need to pick up the December 1977 issue of Readers' Digest. There's and article titled, "Is the World Really Coming to an End?" It is written by Ronald Bailey, editor of "The True State of the Planet." In his article, Mr. Bailey bursts six of the most popular but very inaccurate environmental myths. On global warming, he states, "There's more hype on this environmental issue than any other." I urge everyone to pick up a copy for himself and have your children read it so they can filter out all this hype when they attend college.
