To the editor:
Jackie Robinson, known for his fame, once said, "Life isn't important in itself. It's the impact it makes on others."
Many years ago we lived a block away from the Himmelbergers. Their stature and beautiful home oftentimes led one to feel a little inferior. It was quite the opposite, however, as they were warm, sharing and outgoing people, always willing to oblige.
Jack Himmelberger was a small lad at the time, always eager to make friends. He had high expectations, even as a young lad, of accomplishing many things.
Jack Himmelberger is now gone, but his desire and enthusiasm paid off. He accomplished much and was in demand for the leadership and even beginning of many organizations.
Life itself wasn't important to Jack Himmelberger, but the impact he made on others will certainly be remembered and will never die.
