To the editor:
Just recently, the entertainment at the Lutheran Home where I reside took a slightly different turn. It was so well-received that a repeat is looked forward to.
When word spread that Dr. Peter Hilty, professor emeritus of English at Southeast Missouri State University, would be speaking on the origin on names, curiousity and interest arose, resulting in an amazingly large attendance.
Dr. Hilty answered many questions, and he calmly and untiringly explained the meaning and origins of many names. How enlightening that was to everyone.
Dr. Hilty spoke just short of anhour. His broad intelligence was shown by his excellent translation and explanation of many names. His pleasant personality was a joy to all.
Those in attendance look forward to another inspiring visit from Dr. Hilty and are thankful for the knowledge gained, which will be remembered and cherished.
