Although the heat wave has abated, perhaps the following will help some forget it for awhile. (With apologies to Harry Dacre, who wrote the well-known "Bicycle Built for Two" over a century ago. The meter is suggestive, hence the apology.)

Hazy, hazy, humid and hot as well.

Drive them crazy, mosquitoes and flies so fell.

Though he won't buy an AC,

Bud and his old dog KC

Keep their cool

With hose and pool

In the shade of the old apple tree.
