LETTERS: GETTING INVOLVED IS KEY TO FREEDOM

To the editor:

Thank you, Southeast Missourian, for correcting the erroneous attribution of the facelift of the "Welcome to Jackson" sign (Jan. 17, Page 2A). I didn't want to believe it was vandals responsible for his disappearance, and it turns out it wasn't. Thanks too for adding a great quote from the man himself. Another great quote from Andrew Jackson is, "Eternal vigilance by the people is the price for liberty." We all need to be involved in our communities if we want to secure the blessings of freedom.
