LETTERS: FORMER TEACHER OF NEW PRINCIPAL EXPECTS THE BEST

To the editor:

As one of Mike Cowan's teachers from long ago in Oak Ridge, I was elated to see that he has been appointed as the new principal at Central High School in Cape Girardeau. I remember Mike from 35 years ago when he was in my seventh-grade social studies class in Oak Ridge. Even in my retirement I remember Mike as the most exuberant, personable and warmhearted student I ever had, and also one of the brightest. From reading the news article about Mike, I can see he hasn't changed. I predict Mike Cowan will challenge the students and teachers at Central High School to be even better than they've ever been.
