Recently I decided I wanted to learn how to swing dance. Much to my disappointment, I have been unable to find any help in this area about instruction on this re-popularized form of dance. Cape Girardeau has let me down again in the area of the performing arts. Such things seem to be tossed aside or ignored, and people are let to navigate to St. Louis to do these things of interest, especially when acting comes into play. I was shocked when I went for an audition for a play about a year ago and found that the local community theater doesn't even have a permanent location to practice.

I'm most positive that if Cape Girardeau did something about this problem, people would be more than appreciative. Thanks for hearing me out.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Dance classes -- along with many other classes pertaining to adult hobbies -- are offered through the Cape Girardeau Area Vocational-Technical School. Efforts are being made to find a permanent home for the local theater group. Contact the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri if you would like to help.
