To the editor:

The Missouri Division of Family Services, along with the Cape Girardeau County Child Abuse and Neglect Council, recently sponsored a child abuse/neglect conference which was held at the Holiday Inn. Approximately 250 people attended this conference, including DFS staff, law enforcement and juvenile officers, foster parents, educators, counselors, university students and many others who work with or are interested in children.

Through the help of the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau, we were well-prepared for our conference, and it was a huge success. The Convention and Visitors Bureau made all the name tags for conference participants. It supplied cloth bags for each participant saying "Wake Up to Missouri -- Cape Girardeau" and stuffed the bags with items supplied by Southeast Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center. The bureau also offered to help at the registration desk and deliver the bags to the conference site.
