LETTERS: COUNTY ZONING NEEDED

To the editor:

I want to return some feedback to your April 29 editorial, "Zoning for county."

County planning and zoning are critical to the future development of Cape Girardeau County. In the years of the immediate future, our county will develop faster than it has at any time in the past. Even though there have been few problems in the past few years, there already are instances of growth that would probably not occur if planning and zoning were enacted. There is no guarantee that, with the current trend of residents moving to areas outside of municipalities, undesirable entities could not disrupt growth patterns that have already been established.

I totally agree with the points in your editorial. I would like to see county planning and zoning again looked at and eventually put to a vote of the residents of Cape Girardeau County.
